Over the coming weeks, participants of Pokemon GO can anticipate an exciting array of events and activities to kickstart the year in January. A highlight of the mobile game's itinerary includes exclusive legendary Pokemon raids and the much-anticipated January Community Day. Adding to the flurry of events, Niantic has also declared the return of the Pokemon GO Community Day Classic, showcasing the highly popular Pokemon, Porygon.

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, between the local times of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., there will be an increased appearance of Porygon in the wild. Additionally, fortunate trainers may also come across a Shiny Porygon during this window of opportunity.

Players must evolve Porygon2 into Porygon-Z during the specific event or in the two hours directly after it to ensure their Porygon-Z learns the exclusive Charged Attack, Tri Attack. Doing so during these times secures the coveted move and makes the most of the evolution process.

Community Day Classic Special Research story
The exclusive Special Research story for the Porygon Community Day Classic is now available for a fee of US$1.00, or its equivalent in various local currencies. This story is only accessible upon purchase.
Moreover, the game now offers a new feature that allows players to purchase event tickets and gift them to their in-game friends. To be eligible to receive a gifted ticket, the recipient must have reached at least a 'Great Friends' level of friendship with the giver. To gift a ticket, players should go to the in-game shop, select the Special Research ticket, and opt for the 'Gift' option rather than 'Buy'.
It's important to understand that these tickets are nonrefundable. However, refunds may be considered in exceptional cases as per the governing law or if they fall under the specific exceptions stated in the Terms of Service. Please note that this Special Research does not include an in-game medal as part of its rewards.
During the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, players will have access to a Timed Research event, which will reward participants with three Upgrades and three Sinnoh Stones. Alongside this, there will also be Field Research tasks themed around the Community Day Classic. Completing these tasks, such as capturing Porygon, will grant various rewards like additional Porygon encounters, Stardust, Great Balls, among others.
